Bat Girls To Fight Breast Cancer

02/25/10 12:00 PM EST

Baseball has the power to bring people together, and soon enough real Major League Baseball games will do that on a daily basis at ballparks again.

It can also help empower those with common interests, such as better understanding and eradicating breast cancer in our lifetime. The 2010 season marks the sixth year that MLB has joined forces with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help raise awareness of breast cancer and drive funding for research and treatment. This year's drive is officially under way with Thursday's launch of the Honorary Bat Girl Contest, a campaign developed to recognize baseball fans who are "Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer" in their daily lives.

Men and women 18 and older can vote and enter on MLB.com to win a chance at becoming an Honorary Bat Girl (female or male) during scheduled May 9 Mother's Day celebrations. Each Honorary Bat Girl will have an opportunity to take part in pregame activities, be honored during an on-field ceremony and receive two tickets to the game and pink MLB merchandise. Fan submissions are accepted on April 13, and based on last year's introductory campaign, it will be inspirational and moving.  To read more CLICK HERE

Tara Graphics/Sky Box Sport Scenes Talks MLB Murals on Huntsville, AL's WTKI 1450 AM

A big thank you to Fred Holland, owner and morning host, at WTKI in Huntsville, AL for interviewing Sky Box Sport Scenes Product Manager, Alissa Ramsay.  Holland was generous with his time and questions during his morning show interview.  Ramsay was able to share about Tara Graphics' large-format print opportunities (including POP advertising, billboards and banners), Tara Manufacturing's pool liners, and of course Sky Box's MLB licensed photo murals.

Ramsay and Holland also discuss why Madison County is the ideal community for entrepreneurs and small business.  Ramsay has personal experience growing her former business of 6-years in Madison County and attributes much of her small business success to the cost of living, support of the community, and local business organizations.  "I was 23 and had only lived in Huntsville [Alabama] for a few months when I started my business." Ramsay said, "Organizations, such as, the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce are strong proponents of North Alabama's economic development and support businesses in diverse industries.  North Alabama is a perfect place for a start-up in almost any industry."

Tara Graphics has been in operation since 1991. As Holland pointed out, Huntsville, AL is known as the "Rocket City", but North Alabama is diverse in industry and opportunities.

The Huntsville Times Business Section: "A slice of Major League Baseball comes to New Hope, Alabama"

A slice of Major League Baseball comes to New Hope, Alabama

By Budd McLaughlin

February 08, 2010, 5:57PM
HUNTSVILLE, AL -- The little town of New Hope may be the last place you'd expect to find a Major League Baseball stadium but, thanks to a local company, fans can experience a view from a "sky box."
Tara Graphics, a 12-employee company, recently purchased Sky Box Sport Scenes (SBSS), which produces MLB-licensed photomurals of Major League ballparks. The artwork is perfect for kids' bedrooms, dens and rec rooms.

"These are extremely popular," said Alissa Ramsay, Tara Graphics' product manager for SBSS. The photomurals are available in 4-by-6-foot and 8-by-12-foot sizes.

Tara Graphics had been producing the photomurals since 2004 for the former Massachusetts-based company. Ramsay said SBSS approached Tara Graphics about the deal and, effective Jan. 1, Tara became the owner.

Ramsay said since the company has been producing the photomurals for several years, it made sense for the deal. And, because of Tara Graphics' and SBSS's affiliation with Major League Baseball, there was no hesitation on MLB's part, either.

"MLB has been wonderful to work with," she said.

In an indirect way, Tara Graphics brought Major League Baseball to Madison County.
"This is an exciting addition to Madison County's resume of businesses located in North Alabama." Ramsay said, "MLB photomurals are a hot commodity and we are looking forward to growing the company, expanding product lines and continuing to contribute to our growing community."

Ramsay, who sold her company Average to Art before joining Tara Graphics last September, said this is the continuation of her business "dream."

"My dream was to own a business, and I did that for about six years," said the graduate of Ohio State University and self-professed "military brat." "Now, I'm in business development.
"I'm blessed."

The photomurals are distributed by sports merchandising and wallpaper retailers nationally, but not available locally - "for the time being," Ramsay said.

She said the company is looking for online retailers and there are also plans on adding two smaller sizes to the lineup.

"MLB approved us for peel-and-stick," Ramsay said. "We have two sizes for wallpaper and two (smaller sizes) for peel-and-stick.

"The consumer has spoken and we're meeting the need."

In the meantime, Ramsay will push the photomurals and enjoy the perks of her major league "dream."
"Their offices are on Park Avenue and I get to talk with people all over," she said.
"But the fun part is when someone tells me 'MLB is on the phone for you.' "

Please click on image to enlarge.

NORTH ALABAMA WELCOMES MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

(February 4, 2010) New Hope, Alabama --Effective January 1, 2010, Tara Graphics became the new owners of Sky Box Sport Scenes (SBSS). SBSS brings the baseball stadium experience to fans year- round with officially licensed Major League Baseball (MLB) photomurals. Purchasing SBSS was a natural transition for Tara Graphics because they have been the preferred manufacturer for the former Massachusetts-based SBSS since 2004. SBSS' MLB photomurals are distributed nationally by sports merchandising and wallpaper retailers across the United States.

Tara Graphics is a family owned and operated large-format print shop operating in New Hope, Alabama since 1991. As the new owners of SBSS, Tara Graphics is committed to continuing superior customer service and quality control. SBSS retailers are greeted with friendly customer service and access to a fully automated online ordering system and drop-ship capabilities. SBSS has over 30 MLB stadium wallpaper photomurals in 4'x6' and 8'x12' sizes. Tara Graphics will be launching an additional product line under SBSS in Spring 2010.

Tara Graphics hired Alissa Ramsay in September 2009 to oversee the acquisition proceedings and operate as SBSS' Product Manager. “This is an exciting addition to Madison County's resume of businesses located in North Alabama.” Ramsay said, “MLB photomurals are a hot commodity and we are looking forward to growing the company, expanding product lines, and continuing to contribute to our growing community.”

For more information, please contact Alissa Ramsay by calling 256.725.2585, emailing Alissa@TaraGraphics.com, and visiting www.SBSS.US.
